The suspect was arrested once the chase was over.

INDIANAPOLIS -- One person is in custody following a Wednesday morning car chase.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop at approximately 2 a.m. in the area at 86th Street and Michigan Road. Instead of complying with officers, the vehicle speed away leading to the high-speed chase.

Police say that at one point during the chase, the vehicle intentionally rammed into a police cruiser near 56th Street and Georgetown Road.

The chase, which lasted for more than 15 minutes, ended in a playground in the 3300 block of Middlefield Court.

The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody while an officer was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital with a possible neck injury.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.
