"Suspicious Package" Found Near IUPUI Was Actually a Typewriter

IUPUI campus police reported a suspicious package near Herron Art School just before 9 a.m. Monday.

INDIANAPOLIS -- A "suspicious package" discovered near IUPUI Monday morning turned out to be a typewriter.

IUPUI tweeted about a "situation" at New York and Blackford Streets shortly before 9 a.m. Monday.

Campus police said the "situation" involved a "suspicious package" near Herron Art School.

The package turned out to be a typewriter. The situation was "resolved without incident," according to IU Emergency Management.

New York Street was closed during the police investigation but has since reopened.
