Take Home A Furry Friend At The Indy Mega-Adoption Event

More than 1,000 dogs and cats will be at the Indiana State Fairgrounds this Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana State Fairgrounds is going to the dogs.

More than 1,000 dogs and cats will be in the South Pavilion for the Indy Mega-Adoption Event this Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 6 p.m.

There will be adoptable animals of all ages, breeds, and sizes from 29 different animal shelters in Indiana.

All animals will be fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped, and if you find a furry friend they can go home with you right away. The adoption fee is $30.

“The upcoming Indy Mega-Adoption event marks two significant milestones for animal health and well-being,” said event organizaer Megan Bennett in a press release. “This is our tenth adoption event in five years, resulting in the adoptions of approximately 7,000 animals. At the same time, we are seeing a record number of shelters from Indiana coming to Indianapolis as part of this collective effort to find loving homes for animals while cutting down on needless euthanasia.”

The Indy Mega-Adoption Event is the largest two-day pet adoption event in Indiana, and helps make more room at shelters, which often become over crowded.
