Terre Haute Prison Guard Arrested For Bribery, Conspiracy
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- A prison guard at the federal prison in Terre Haute, may soon find himself incarcerated there.
41-year-old Leon Perry III has been arrested on a long list of charges, including conspiracy to permit escape, bribing public officials, and providing contraband to inmates.
Perry is accused of taking bribes in the form of cash or other items from inmates and, in return, would allow them to have sex with unauthorized visitors on prison grounds. The charges also state he was bribed to patrol a different part of the facility than he was supposed to, allowing inmates to escape and go to nearby hotels with women.
U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler says that if convicted, Perry could spend at least 15 years behind bars.
