Three Firefighters Hurt in Lawrence Apartment Fire

People living at the Maison Gardens apartment complex called 911 Wednesday night to report flames shooting out of the roof of a building.

LAWRENCE, Ind.— Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries Wednesday night after being hurt while fighting an apartment fire in Lawrence.

Firefighters were called to 4242 Rue Biscay at around 8 p.m. after multiple people told dispatchers that flames were shooting through the roof of a building.

Lawrence Fire Chief Dino Batalis told WISH-TV that two of the firefighters were from his department and one was with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

The injuries to all three firefighters were minor. They were treated at a local hospital and released shortly before midnight.

Chief Batalis told WISH-TV he had "no immediate idea" how many apartments were damaged in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
