INDIANAPOLIS — The Bob Evans sausage links you have in your fridge may not be safe to eat.

Bob Evans Farms is recalling nearly 47,000 pounds of pork sausage links because they may contain “extraneous materials,” including hard chunks of plastic, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Thursday.

The sausage links were made Aug. 1 and sold in Indiana and nine other states.

The USDA said it became aware of the issue when customers complained about finding pieces of plastic and other foreign objects in their food. No injuries have been reported.

The recalled sausages were sold in 12-ounce packages and bear the establishment number of “EST. 6785.”

The products being recalled include:

  • Bob Evans Maple Pork Sausage Links, with a “Use By” date of Oct. 16 or Oct. 19 and a lot code of 8213.
  • Bob Evans Brown Sugar & Honey, with a “Use By” date of Oct. 16 and lot code of 8213.
  • Fresh From Meijer Maple Flavored Sausage Links, with a “Use By” date of Sept. 6 and a lot code of 8213.

If you have any of the recalled products, you should throw them away or return them to the store for a refund.
