Woman Slapped, Robbed, Shoved Into the Canal

The woman says she thought some teenagers were going to help her. That wasn’t correct.

INDIANAPOLIS—A woman was robbed, slapped and shoved into the canal in downtown Indy early Friday morning, said IMPD officers.

Detectives are now looking for four people, one of whom was a woman, all in their late teens, reports our news gathering partners at WISH TV.

The woman told police that she was looking for her car around 1:30 a.m., near Michigan St., and Indiana Ave., when she was approached by the group. They acted like they wanted to help, but when they got closer they took the woman’s keys and phone, and eventually her car after slapping her a couple of times and shoving her into the water.

The victim said the perps headed off to the north.
