Wreck Kills Richmond Man, Wrong Way Driver in the Hospital
NEW CASTLE, Ind.--A wrong way driver caused several people to wreck and then hit another car head-on, killing the other driver on I-70 near New Castle, last night.
State Police said Phaedra Winters, 55, of Huber Heights, Ohio, was driving west in the east bound lans and ran several cars off the road, the hit a Honda head-on, killing the driver, Chase Thomas, 19, of Richmond. Winters was taken to the hospital and the wreck is still being investigated.
State troopers got involved when someone called in the wrong way driver. They found the head on wreck when they went to investigate.

While Winters was treated at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for multiple fractures, people in two other vehicles run off the road were also hurt. A 2012 Chevrolet Truck driven by Cheryl Moore of Chillicothe, Ohio, and a 2007 Toyota driven by Elsadig Harolin-Osman of Dayton, Ohio, were also involved. Moore was treated and released at the scene and Osman refused treatment, said troopers.
Investigators weren't sure why Winters was driving the wrong way, and their investigation may clear that up.
