Delta Raises Fees For Checked Baggage

The price for checked bags has increased by $5, the airline announced Wednesday.

NATIONWIDE -- Delta Airlines has raised its fee for checked baggage.

The airline on Wednesday raised the prices of the first and second checked bags by $5 each.

The first checked bag will now cost $30 for flights in North America, the Carribean and Central America.

The price to check a second bag is now $40.

Back in August, JetBlue started the trend of increasing baggage fees and United followed suit.

Airlines are battling with rising fuel and labor costs and it's taking a toll on their bottom lines. The airlines are trying to make up those costs with fees for things like checking bags and picking a seat.
