DoD Investigating Crash Involving West Point Cadets

One West Point cadet is dead and more than 20 others are injured after an armored personnel carrier overturned Thursday morning.

WASHINGTON -- The Department of Defense is investigating a deadly accident near West Point Military Academy in New York.

One cadet was killed and more than 20 others were injured when an armored personnel carrier overturned during a training exercise.

According to the DOD, the accident happaned as Army soldiers were driving the cadets to a map-reading and land-based navigational exercise. 

The injured personnel include 20 cadets and two active duty soldiers.   

 The cause of the crash is unknown.
