WASHINGTON — Public hearings of the January 6th House committee resume today.

The hearing is expected to focus on efforts by then-President Trump to pressure Vice President Pence to overturn the 2020 election results. Pence eventually concluded he had no constitutional authority to do so.

Monday’s hearing centered on witness testimony that Trump knew the presidential election wasn’t stolen but pursued efforts to overturn the results anyway.

Wednesday’s scheduled hearing was postponed.

The committee cited some scheduling factors and technical challenges. Committee staff members are going over hundreds of hours of video depositions to provide relevant clips for the public hearings.

The January 6th committee might also have questions for the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

The Washington Post says the committee investigating last year’s Capitol attack has obtained email correspondence between Virginia Thomas and Trump lawyer John Eastman, who reportedly played a key role in trying to get Pence to block Joe Biden’s victory.

The report claims Thomas’s efforts to overturn the election were more extensive than previously known. It claims House committee members are discussing whether to explore Thomas’s role in their public hearings.
