FLORENCE, S.C.–Former Vice President and Indiana Governor Mike Pence discussed abortion on Wednesday in South Carolina.

At the Florence Baptist Temple, Pence said he is calling for all states to ban abortion. He visited the church close to a month after the Supreme Court struck down “Roe v Wade,” which eliminated the nearly 50-year-old constitutional right to abortion and handing states the authority to drastically limit or ban the procedure.

“We have work to do. We’ve come to a new beginning for life. But it’s just a beginning. Standing here in the first days of post-Roe America, we must resolve that we will not rest, we will not relent, until the sanctity of life is restored to the center of American law in every state in the nation,” said Pence.

He urged people to reach out to their elected leaders.

“For those of us who cherish the sanctity of life, it has never been more important,” said Pence.

Pence also discussed adoption. He said the high price for adoption is a barrier for many families. He also spoke about expanding support to pregnant women and their children.

“Let us also redouble our commitment to provide care and support to expectant mothers, to newborns, and to young families,” said Pence.

He further called for ending “mail-order abortion” by restricting access to abortion pills, something the Biden administration says it will protect.

Pence’s speech in South Carolina marked his third trip to the early primary state since leaving office.

On Monday, Pence supported Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Karrin Taylor Robson, whom he will rally alongside tomorrow. Former President Donald Trump is slated to hold his own campaign rally on Friday for rival candidate Kari Lake.
