Report: Aretha Franklin "Gravely Ill" in Detroit Hospital

DETROIT -- The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is "gravely ill", her family told Detroit's WDIV-TV (Channel 4) on Monday.
The family of Aretha Franklin confirmed this morning that the 'Queen of Soul' is gravely ill, Channel 4 anchor Evrod Cassimy said during a newscast.
"The 'Queen of Soul', Miss Aretha Franklin, is gravely ill. Family members confirming the news with me this morning," Cassimy said. "Right now, Aretha is asking people to pray for her."
As for the details of her illness, Cassimy said Channel 4 was asked "not to share that information".

Franklin, 76, has dealt with numerous health problems over the years and was diagnosed with cancer in 2010. She last appeared on stage in 2017.
