NASHUA, N.H — Another strong showing for Pete Buttigieg. With nearly all precincts reporting in, the former South Bend mayor is the runner-up to Senator Bernie Sanders in the New Hampshire primary.

“So many of you chose to meet a new era of challenges with a new era of leadership,” Buttigieg declared at a gathering of supporters late last night, adding “he’s “here to stay.”

He said this is the chance to end the era of President Trump.

“With Americans living under an unaccountable president, who will cut taxes for corporations and then cut medicare, Medicaid, and social security for the rest of us, we must get this right,” Buttigieg said.

The 38-year-old gathered 24.7-percent of the vote — a full percentage point behind Sanders who got 25.7-percent.

It’s a much-needed rebound for Sanders who narrowly lost the Iowa Caucuses to Buttigieg just a week prior. Two more states – Nevada and South Carolina – will vote this month before Super Tuesday.
