Suspected Florida School Shooter Faces 17 Counts of Premeditated Murder

The shooting happened Wednesday at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

PARKLAND, FL -- The gunman accused of killing 17 people and injuring more than a dozen others at a Parkland, Florida high school is being charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.

Investigators say Nikolas Cruz opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School yesterday and was taken into custody shortly after the attack after fleeing the scene. He's expected to make his first court appearance today.

Meanwhile, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel says the victims include both students and adults.

Nineteen-year-old Cruz is a former student at the school who was expelled for disciplinary reasons.

No motive in the shooting has been determined by investigators.
