Tillerson Out as Secretary of State
WASHINGTON -- Outgoing Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is looking ahead.
President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday morning that Tillerson will be replaced by Director of the CIA, Mike Pompeo.
Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!

After firing Tillerson via Twitter, Trump called him a "good man" and wished him well.
He also noted some disagreements with Tillerson, who has had a rocky relationship with the Trump White House. Tillerson reportedly called Trump a "moron" last year in a meeting with some other officials at the Pentagon.
Speaking at the State Department on Tuesday afternoon, Tillerson said he will return to life as a private citizen when his commission ends at midnight on Sunday, March 31.
He stressed that he is focused on an "orderly and smooth" transition and heaped praise on the men and women of the U.S. diplomatic corps and military. He took no questions and did not thank the President.
He also appointed Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan as interim secretary.
Pres. Trump has nominated CIA Director Mike Pompeo to replace Tillerson as head of the State Department.
