Vice President Mike Pence To Meet With Venezuela's Opposition Leader

Pence and Juan Guaido will meet in Columbia as Pence continues to urge support for Guaido as the Venezuelan president.

BOGOTA, Columbia -- Vice-President Mike Pence is in South America today meeting with the opposition leader and self-proclaimed President of Venezuela.

"Estamos con ustedes: We are with you" is the message from your former governor to the people of Venezuela as he meets with President Juan Guaido in Bogota, Columbia. Columbian President Ivan Duque will attend the meeting as well.

Guaido is the man both Pence and President Trump recognize as the interim President of Venezuela even though Nicholas Maduro is refusing to relinquish the office.

It's been violent of late at the Columbia-Venezuela border, where a US supported humanitarian convoy has been blocked from entering the country by the Venezuelan military, which supports Maduro as president.

President Trump has threatened military action in the last few weeks if Maduro refuses to step aside.
