Democrat Congressman John Conyers Stepping Down After Sexual Misconduct Claims

Conyers told Detroit radio station WPZR that he is endorsing his son, John Conyers III, to replace him.

DETROIT, MI -- Democrat Congressman John Conyers of Michigan says he is stepping down from his seat Tuesday and will not seek re-election after being accused of sexual misconduct. 

Conyers told Detroit radio station WPZR that he is endorsing his son, John Conyers III, to replace him. 

Conyers is in a Detroit hospital for stress-related issues and is the longest serving member of Congress, first taking the seat in Jan. 1965.
