Georgia Conquers Alabama In CFB Playoff Nat’l Championship

INDIANAPOLIS — The Georgia Bulldogs stand alone on the mountain top of college football after taking down Alabama 33-18 in the College Football Playoff National Championship in Indianapolis Monday night.

The Bulldogs and Crimson Tide were in a stalemate early with each team exchanging field goals. It was the 3rd quarter of the game that saw the match-up’s first touchdown, a short 1-yard scamper from Zeus White of Georgia to give the Bulldogs their first lead of the game.

Both teams would exchange touchdowns in the games last quarter, with the game being sealed on an interception returned for a touchdown by Kelee Ringo who took advantage of an under-thrown ball from Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said he was so proud of how his team held it together in the early portions of the game but was even more proud of how Georgia fans showed out for the game.

“But, just Dawg Nation showing up here, the tremendous belief in this program, of our fan base,” said Smart. “I mean, everywhere we went in Indianapolis we saw our people.”

“The emotion I have for these players and these young men, I’m looking over here at these young men … I’ve never been around a group of players that really wanted it so bad and wouldn’t be denied,” Smart added.

The win is Georgia’s first national championship in 41 years and their first title under the College Football Playoff system implemented in 2014.
