Adam Vinatieri Done For the Season

The Indianapolis Colts kicker will have surgery on his left knee, and be placed on injured reserve.

INDIANAPOLIS -- Adam Vinatieri is done for the season.

The Indianapolis Colts kicker, who missed Sunday's game due to a knee injury, will miss the rest of the 2019 season. ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Monday morning that Vinatieri will undergo knee surgery, and the Colts will place him on injured reserve.

The 2019 season was the worst the 24-year veteran had in his career. He made just 68 percent of his field goal attempts, going 17-of-25. He also missed six extra points. The 46-year-old still holds the NFL record for most points scored in a career, with 2,673.

Chase McLaughlin, who replaced Vinatieri in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers, was 2-for-3 on field goals and made all three of his extra-point attempts.
