Conor Daly Announces New Team, New Sponsorship For Indy 500

The Noblesville native will be racing for Thom Burns Racing in the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500.

INDIANAPOLIS -- IndyCar driver Conor Daly, who's from Noblesville, has a ride for the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500.

In an announcement today at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Daly says he will be driving for Thom Burns Racing in partnership with Dale Coyne Racing.

"I just can't wait," Daly said. "I mean, obviously, it's still a couple of months away, but at least we have it all in order and going in the right direction to be ready for it."

Daly drove for AJ Foyt in his first Indianapolis 500 in 2013 and Schmidt-Peterson Racing in 2015. He raced his first full-time season in the Verizon IndyCar Series with Dale Coyne Racing in 2016.

Last year, he was back with AJ Foyt.

This year, Daly will drive the #17 machine sponsored by the US Air Force. Daly has not seen a lot of success at Indianapolis throughout his young career, finishing no higher than 22nd as a rookie in 2013.

"I know what we've got to work with and for me it's just about getting to the next level, how to improve on what I've learned already," Daly said with confidence in his new gig. "Just at Indy, I've had a lot of stuff happen to me over the years. I feel like this place owes me a little bit."

The 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 is May 27th.
