McMillan: McDermott and Evans Perfect Additions For Team Chemistry

The Indiana Pacers introduce Doug McDermott and Tyreke Evans to fans after picking them up in NBA Free Agnecy

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Pacers picked up Doug McDermott and Tyreke Evans in free agency.

The two were introduced to media members and fans at a press conference at Banker's Life Fieldhouse today in Indianapolis. McDermott, a sharp-shooter who played his college ball at Creighton, says he already feels at home.

"This is the first team I've been on here basically the whole team reached out once it happened," McDermott said. "Just really cool, Vic, Domas, Darren, Thaddius, all those guys. Definitely makes you feel like you want to be apart of something."

McDermott has agreed to a 3-year deal with the Pacers worth $22 million after spending the remainder of last season with the New York Knicks. Evans comes to the Pacers from a starting role with the Memphis Grizzlies.

"Tagging the basket, rebounding, just finding guys. I have a really good IQ so I can tell what a guy likes by just playing with him for a few times," Evans explains of the tools he brings to Indiana.

Evans says he is fine with coming from a starting role to more of a role player off the bench as long as he can help the team win.

"He'll be playing the two-guard and he'll swing to some one," said head coach Nate McMillan of Evans' role with the team. "Certainly we know he can play with the ball but his ability to play off the ball with what we tried to do last year will be very helpful."

McMillan says both McDermott and Evans are perfect additions to the chemistry the Pacers built as a team last year.
