Notre Dame And Wisconsin To Face Each Other In 2020 & 2021
CHICAGO -- Notre Dame is resurrecting a series with a long forgotten foe.
Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick and Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez say the Fighting Irish and the Badgers will meet in three years time on the football field for the first time in over 50 years.
As part of Notre Dame's annual "Shamrock Series", they will play Wisconsin in 2020 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, and then again in 2021 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
"These are two schools with a host of reasons to play each other and will play in two iconic venues and deliver a great experience for our students," Swarbrick said. "In both games, the stadium will be split 50/50 and that creates a unique atmosphere."
The 2021 game will be a technical "away game" for the Fighting Irish.
The last time the two met on the gridiron the late Ara Parsegihan was in his first season as the head coach of Notre Dame, and led them to a 31-7 win over Wisconsin in Madison in 1964. They first played each other back in 1904 which was a 50-0 rout by the Badgers.
Overall, Notre Dame holds an 8-6-2 advantage in the series.
