Pacers Stun Cavaliers in Game 1, Take 1-0 Series Lead
CLEVELAND, OH--The Indiana Pacers raced out to a big lead and ended up taking the series lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 98-80 rout of Cleveland Sunday afternoon.
The Pacers were energized by an emphatic dunk from Lance Stephenson early in the game en route to a 33-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Cleveland fought back to cut the deficit to 7 at 70-63, but Indiana responded with a 3 from Darren Collison to push the lead to 10.
Then they put the clamps down in the 4th quarter outscoring Cleveland 25-15 in the final period.
Cleveland All-Star Small Forward LeBron James earned a triple-double with 24 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. It was also the first time James suffered a playoff-opening loss in his career.
Indiana's leading scorer, Victor Oladipo, led the way again for the Pacers with 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The other double-figure scorers for the Pacers were Myles Turner with 16, Bojan Bogdanovic with 15, and Lance Stephenson scored 12.
Game 2 is Wednesday night in Cleveland at 7 pm. Games 3 and 4 will be in Indianapolis.
