Linda Rendleman is the Founder of the “WOMEN LIKE US FOUNDATION” and she’s rallying volunteers to sew facemasks for local hospitals, clinics, and homeless shelters.

If you have basic sewing skills, access to a sewing machine and fabrics, this is how you can make a difference in these times of “hunkerin’ down”.  The WOMEN LIKE US FOUNDATION is in conversations and partnerships with several facilities immediately requesting masks.   Click HERE for instructions.

JOANN FABRICS also recently launched a program that gives away FREE fabric, elastic & other materials so you can make facemasks at home.  Click HERE to get started.

There’s been some conversation about whether homemade facemasks help in the spread of COVID-19.  The CDC says that homemade facemasks DO NOT meet N95 standards.

The FDA says “a surgical mask (facemask) by design, does not filter or block very small particles in the air that may be transmitted by coughs, sneezes, or certain medical procedures.”

So who are your handmade facemasks for?  Some hospitals & clinics say that donated masks will go to nonclinical staff and worried patients.   If you’re like me and have trouble keeping your hands off your face, make one for yourself!  It DOES help!
