Lara Trump defended her father-in-law’s handling of the Coronavirus pandemic Wednesday and issued a sharp rebuke of media outlets who refuse to carry the President’s daily press briefings, calling them “disgusting” and “totally un-American.”
“This is something that we’re all dealing with together as a nation and for the press to behave that way is completely unacceptable,” Trump told the Hammer and Nigel show Wednesday.
“That said, I think the job that the job that’s been done by the task force, the Vice President, and certainly the President has been outstanding,” said Trump. “We’ve never seen a situation quite like this in the history of our country, and it came upon us very quickly.”
She continued: “You saw that while the Democrats were busy trying to impeach the President back in January, this President has the foresight to say, ‘You know what? We’re going to stop flight from China and other areas that have been affected by Coronavirus.’ Of course, he was called xenophobic and racist when he did that, but thank God he did because it saved a lot of lives. So yes, I think he has done an incredible job.”
Mrs. Trump, who is married to the President’s son Eric Trump, accused Democrats of playing politics at a time of national crisis.
“[The left] has been after him since day one and they’ve continued to exploit this pandemic for political gain, but the American people are smarter than that and they realize what Democrats are doing,” said Trump. “But thank God for Donald Trump because he’s going to be the primary reason this country will emerge from the crisis and go right back to where we were before economically.”
Trump also inferred that this crisis has put a spotlight on the President’s best qualities.
“He is able to both lead the country and make Democrats and the media look like complete and total idiots,” said Trump.
She continued: “And in terms of exposing Democrats, he doesn’t even have to work at it. Just look at who they’re going to have as their nominee. I mean, Joe Biden? But you know what, that’s just all the more reason that we need to get through this pandemic and go out in November to cast our votes for Donald Trump.”
