“An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. As the weather is slated to cool after next week, it’s time to discover some popular apple picking spots in and around Indianapolis.

As the autumnal winds blow, there are dozens of orchards in central Indiana in which you can spend time finding a crunchy, brightly colored fruit which is one of the most popular foods in the United States. When it comes to apple picking, you’ll want to consider the entire farm to fully enjoy your experience.

Here are some top ranked orchards around Indy.

Anderson Orchard:

Located at 369 E Greencastle Rd in Mooresville, at Anderson Orchard you’ll find U pick apples plus a country store.  After you pick your apples, stop by the Concession Stand for homemade apple cider or a caramel apple! This year’s Apple Festival & Craft Fair will take place on September 24-25. Anderson Orchard is open daily 8am to 8pm.

Tuttle Orchards:

Located at 5717 N 300 W in Greenfield, some families make it a yearly tradition to visit this farm. They have over ten acres of dwarf variety apple trees just for picking your own apples. Tuttle Orchards offers a hay ride, corn maze, and tractor town. You can enjoy an apple cider slushy too! They are open Monday – Saturday, 9 am-6 pm; Sunday, closed. 

Adrian Orchards:

Located at 500 West Epler Ave in Indianapolis, Adrian Orchards stakes claim to being the orchard nearest the heart of Indianapolis. Adrian’s has been offering central Indiana apples, peaches, cider and more for more than 90 years and counting!

Waterman’s Family Farm:

Located at 7010 E Raymond St in Indianapolis, Waterman’s Family Farm features apples and plenty of things for kids to do such as a fun slide, swings, play set, petting zoo, pony rides, corn mazes, teepees, tons of hay bails, and pumpkins. They are open daily from 9am to 7pm.

Beasley’s Orchard:

Located at 2304 E Main St in Danville, Beasley’s Orchards have been harvesting memories since 1946. You’ll find the fall harvest with some fun for the family. Activities include a corn maze, hayrides to the pumpkin patch, apple cannons, barnyard bonanza, straw mountain, and delicious food. Hours are Monday through Saturday 9am to 6pm and Sunday 12pm to 6pm.

Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill:

Located at 19975 Hamilton Boone Rd in Sheridan, Stuckey Farm Orchard offers 38 varieties of apples from 5,000 trees. You can take a wagon ride through their orchard, watch them press cider, and even enjoy a picnic. They have a huge play area called “Adventure Acres” that includes a 60 foot slide! They’re open Monday through Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 5pm.
