A survey conducted by Indy Politics and ARW Strategies of registered voters in Marion County between August 13th and 23rd shows massive support for the legalization of marijuana.

Two-thirds of voters (65%) support the full legalization for recreational and medicinal use of marijuana, with an additional 20% supporting the legalization of marijuana strictly for medicinal use.

“For any lawmaker concerned about the blowback for supporting legalization of marijuana, these numbers should put their mind at ease,” said Andrew Weissert of ARW Strategies.  “With just one-in-ten voters opposing legalization of any kind, there is overwhelming support across all parties.”

76% of Democrats, 62% of Independents, and 51% of Republicans support full legalization, with an additional 17% of Democrats and Independents, and 26% of Republicans supporting the legalization of marijuana for medicinal use.

Legalization was most popular among 35-49-year-olds at 75 percent and those 65 and older were least supporting at 43 percent.
